KUALA LUMPUR, November 6 — As heavy rains continue to cause flooding in Selangor and Perak, a total of nine temporary relief centers were established to provide shelter for flood victims by 8 pm today. In Selangor, five relief centers were set up in the Sepang district as Sungai Dengkil overflowed its banks due to continuous rain. The district police chief reported that 255 victims from 67 families sought refuge in community halls and the Jenderam Hilir Village Community Management Council Hall.

Additional victims were still being updated by the Social Welfare Department in two other relief centers. In Perak, the number of flood victims decreased to 220 people from 64 families, compared to the earlier figure of 272 people from 75 families in the morning. Four relief centers in Hilir Perak and Kerian accommodated the affected individuals. However, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) has reported dangerous water levels in several rivers, including Sungai Bidor in Changkat Jong, Sungai Kinta at the Tanjung Tualang weir, and Sungai Kerian in Selama.
