JOHOR BAHARU, December 16 – In a move set to amplify Malaysia’s southern economic powerhouse, Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp) has inaugurated its first office in Johor, signaling a significant step in the state’s development trajectory. Positioned strategically at the Career Centre of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTMCC), the launch ceremony, officiated by YBrs. Puan Tazrina Ahmad, General Manager of Johor Human Capital Strategic Unit, emphasized the importance of nurturing talent development in Johor.

The southern region, already a magnet for investments with RM70.6 billion secured in 2022, stands to benefit from TalentCorp’s commitment to fostering collaboration among industry players, educational institutions, and the government. Johor’s economic potential is poised for further expansion with the upcoming Singapore-Johor Special Economic Zone and the Digital Johor Masterplan 2030. The new TalentCorp satellite office aligns with the objectives of Maju Johor 2030, emphasizing the collaborative partnership between the state and the federal agency.

YB Tuan Mohd Hairi Mad Shah, Johor Exco for Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives, and Human Resources, lauded TalentCorp’s initiative, expressing confidence in Johor’s growth potential. Thomas Mathew, Group Chief Executive Officer of TalentCorp, underscored Johor’s significance in contributing to the country’s GDP and outlined the agency’s focus on talent development in the region. The office launch follows TalentCorp’s efforts to enhance collaboration through Industry-Academia Collaboration (IAC) workshops and the introduction of the first state-level Critical Occupations List (MyCOL) in 2023.
