GEORGE TOWN, November 22 – Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak has strongly condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza, calling upon the international community to support diplomatic efforts aimed at bringing an end to the conflict. Speaking at the opening of the 15th state legislative assembly sitting, he emphasized the need for a fair and just comprehensive solution and urged global cooperation to address the suffering of the Palestinian people, especially children and women, who have borne the brunt of the conflict.
Tun Ahmad Fuzi stressed the collective responsibility of the global community to raise awareness and work towards alleviating the pain and catastrophe faced by Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Expressing solidarity with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent call to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for a ceasefire and humanitarian assistance in Gaza, Tun Ahmad Fuzi highlighted the urgent need to prioritize the safety and well-being of the affected population. The conflict has resulted in a tragic toll, with thousands of Palestinians, including a majority of women and children, killed due to Israeli airstrikes and ground operations.
Tun Ahmad Fuzi’s condemnation of violence and his plea for international support underscore the gravity of the situation and the necessity for concerted efforts to address the humanitarian crisis. In addition to addressing the Gaza conflict, Tun Ahmad Fuzi commended the state government’s achievements under Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow. Penang’s robust economic performance, with a 13.1% growth in GDP in 2022 and a significant increase in approved manufacturing investments, positions the state as a key contributor to Malaysia’s economic landscape.
Tun Ahmad Fuzi also called on the federal government to allocate increased funds for Penang’s development and urged residents to stay vigilant during the Northeast Monsoon, emphasizing the importance of preparedness for weather-related challenges. This call for international support and condemnation of violence reflects Malaysia’s stance on global humanitarian issues, advocating for diplomatic solutions and coordinated efforts to address crises such as the one unfolding in Gaza.
