SAN FRANCISCO, November 18 – Malaysia’s Communications and Digital Minister, Fahmi Fadzil, has announced that the vacant position of the Community Communications Department (J-KOM) director-general, left by Datuk Dr. Mohammad Agus Yusoff, will be filled promptly. Fahmi, also the unity government spokesman, expressed gratitude for Mohammad Agus’ service and confirmed that he is no longer associated with the government or J-KOM. While Fahmi has yet to discuss the matter with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, he assured that steps would be taken swiftly to appoint a new director-general.

Fahmi’s statement came in response to Mohammad Agus’ recent resignation from the J-KOM director-general position. Mohammad Agus confirmed his resignation, stating that he submitted his notice to the Prime Minister on Wednesday. His decision was attributed to a new job offer and not external pressure. Mohammad Agus had assumed the director-general role on February 2 of this year. As the government aims to ensure a smooth transition, Fahmi emphasized the urgency of filling the vacant post and indicated that discussions with the prime minister would take place to address the matter promptly.
