PUTRAJAYA, December 18 – The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has announced the appointment of Mr. Azman Haji Tambi Chik as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective November 20, 2023. Azman is set to lead the national bureau in steering Malaysia’s business events industry, leveraging his extensive experience in corporate management across diverse sectors such as tourism, hospitality, F&B, and technology. With a career spanning over 30 years, Azman has held key roles in renowned organizations, including Damansara Holdings Berhad (DBhd) and Johor Corporation (JCorp).
Notably, his leadership at Rangkaian Hotel Seri Malaysia (RHSM) marked a successful introduction of guest satisfaction indicators, enhancing the company’s profitability. MyCEB’s Board of Directors recognizes Azman’s proven track record in team building and stakeholder management as pivotal strengths that will position him as a champion for the diverse interests within the business events industry. Azman envisions leading the industry into a “new era” by capitalizing on industrial advancements and positioning Malaysia strategically in the regional business events landscape. He aims to leverage the destination’s resources, expertise, and technological advancements to attract quality international events and delegates.
Emphasizing a culture of empowerment and diversity, Azman aims to leave a sustainable legacy in this dynamic sector. Expressing his enthusiasm, Azman stated, “I am delighted to represent an industry as sizeable and important as Business Events. I will work closely with members and stakeholders on research, policy, skills, training, events, and advocacy with the Government to provide impactful support and services.” MyCEB anticipates Azman’s leadership and vision to elevate the prominence of the business events sector in the Malaysian economy.
