PUTRAJAYA, December 16 – In the wake of the Cabinet reshuffle, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo will oversee several agencies formerly under the dissolved Communications and Digital Ministry, as announced by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. The agencies moving under Gobind’s purview include the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) Sdn Bhd, MYNIC Bhd, and the Department of Personal Data Protection.
Fahmi also stated that the status of Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), responsible for Malaysia’s 5G infrastructure rollout, is still under discussion. Meanwhile, the Communications Ministry, headed by Fahmi, will retain agencies such as the Community Communication Department (J-Kom), Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), BERNAMA, RTM, National Film Development Corporation (Finas), and MyCreative Ventures.
