PUTRAJAYA, December 27 – Tourism Malaysia has launched the “Houseboat 2023/2024” special interest packages to diversify the offerings of special interest products in the market. Six tourism agencies offer a total of 11 houseboat tour packages for journeys from December 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, featuring popular houseboat destinations in Royal Belum, Perak, and Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu.
These packages provide a variety of holiday experiences, including activities such as kayaking, rafting, fishing, archery, Rafflesia tracking, jungle trekking, traditional dessert cooking, paintball, and more. Reservations for these packages can be made starting now, with travel valid until June 30, 2024. The promotion of these houseboat special interest packages takes into account the availability of products in Royal Belum, Perak, and Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu. Royal Belum boasts 41 registered houseboats, offering 615 beds daily, while Tasik Kenyir has 86 houseboats, providing 1,290 beds daily.
Dato’ Dr. Ammar Abd. Ghapar, Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, sees the houseboat segment as an alternative for group vacations. Promoting such packages provides an opportunity for the public to enjoy family or group holidays during school breaks and year-end vacations. It also indirectly contributes to generating economic activities for local communities. Six tourism agencies, including Al Fateh Travel Sdn Bhd, Ad-Deeni Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, Mona Holidays Sdn Bhd, Al-Maziah Travel Sdn Bhd, MLS Holidays Sdn Bhd, and Ping Anchorage Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, are participating in the success of this houseboat special interest tourism campaign.
