GEORGE TOWN, January 5 – The Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, announced today that the State Government Meeting on December 6, 2023, approved a 50% reduction in late payment fines for land and plot owners in Penang. This initiative aims to encourage property owners to promptly settle their land and plot taxes. The 50% reduction is effective from January 2, 2024, to May 31, 2024. The offer is automatically extended to land and plot taxpayers who clear their overdue fines at the District and Land Office counters or online via the PgLAND portal in a lump sum.

It also applies to taxpayers receiving Penalty Notice 6A (land tax) or Penalty Notice 11 (plot tax) but excludes those opting for installment payments. The administration emphasizes that the reduction is not retrospective and does not apply to individuals who settled their late payment fines before the implementation date. A commitment is made to implement suitable initiatives to encourage landowners in Penang to comply with national land tax laws. Individuals with further inquiries are encouraged to contact the Revenue Unit at the Penang Land and Mines Office or the District and Land Office.
