GEORGE TOWN, January 7 – In anticipation of the upcoming four-day scheduled water supply disruption in Penang from January 10 to January 14, local residents have been actively buying various types of water containers to ensure they have adequate water storage. The Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) has announced that around 590,000 consumers, including non-domestic users, will experience a 96-hour disruption starting from 6 am on January 10 until 6 am on January 14, 2024. The purpose of the disruption is to facilitate the replacement of two valve units at the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant (LRA) in Butterworth, Penang.

Given the significant impact on water availability during the disruption, residents are taking proactive measures to store sufficient water for their daily needs. The diverse types of containers being purchased reflect the community’s commitment to mitigating potential inconveniences caused by the scheduled water interruption. PBAPP has recommended that consumers make necessary preparations to store water, and the community’s response highlights the importance of readiness and cooperation during such infrastructure maintenance periods.
