GEORGE TOWN, January 12 – As of 11:00 AM, January 12, 2024, an additional leak has been identified in the Sungai Perai underwater pipeline. Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) personnel are actively investigating the cause and pinpointing the location of the leak to determine if it coincides with the section repaired on the previous day. Despite the identified leak, PBAPP is currently maintaining the pumping of water through the pipeline.

As a precautionary measure, consumers in Stage 2 recovery areas are advised to store an adequate amount of water for their usage. There is a possibility that the affected pipeline might be temporarily shut down later for emergency repair works. PBAPP is diligently working on assessing the situation, and further updates will be provided as soon as accurate information and data are available.
