KUALA LUMPUR, January 23 – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has proposed the introduction of policies or laws aimed at ensuring that the elected government completes its full term in office, avoiding unnecessary political turmoil. Zahid expressed concern over the impact of political instability on the country, referencing the change in leadership during the 15th Parliamentary Session, which led to three different prime ministers.

He highlighted the adverse effects on governance, direction, and the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. Zahid urged the Opposition to adopt a more positive mindset and prioritize national interests over political ambitions, emphasizing the need for stability for the benefit of the people. A ddressing recent allegations that Perikatan Nasional (PN) attempted to bribe the Yang di-Pertuan Agong with RM1 billion to influence political outcomes, Zahid dismissed the claims as baseless and urged the Opposition to learn from past experiences.

The proposal for legislation or policies to ensure the continuity of elected governments reflects a commitment to political stability and governance in Malaysia. Zahid’s call for a more positive and open political approach aligns with the need for a cohesive and pragmatic political environment for the nation’s progress.
