KUALA LUMPUR, January 20 – CelcomDigi has clarified that its customers are not charged for 5G access, refuting earlier reports that indicated otherwise. Following the announcement by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil that telcos would not impose extra charges for 5G, CelcomDigi responded by stating that customers are not charged for 5G access on both postpaid and prepaid plans.

The telco clarified that any additional purchases of data are not for 5G access but to ensure customers have enough data to enjoy 5G services without disruption. CelcomDigi recently introduced 5G Boosters for lower-tier plans, offering extra data for a better 5G experience. Earlier reports had suggested that CelcomDigi was the only major telco requiring customers to purchase additional passes, known as 5G Booster Passes, to access 5G on its lower plans.

These passes were priced between RM3 per day to RM20 per month. However, CelcomDigi clarified that these purchases were for additional data to enhance the 5G experience and not for the 5G access itself. The telco aims to ensure that its customers enjoy seamless access to 4G and 5G without disruptions, emphasizing its commitment to providing one of the most generous data quota offerings in the market.
