PUTRAJAYA, January 20 — The Education Ministry in Malaysia is set to introduce revised guidelines for national schools, wherein students will now be required to wear uniforms only twice a week, according to Minister Fadhlina Sidek. The decision, made in collaboration with parent-teacher groups and various stakeholders, aims to strike a balance between formal and casual attire. Under the new guidelines, students will wear uniforms for two days, sports attire for two days, and extra-curricular attire for one day during the school week.
Minister Fadhlina emphasized the significance of input from parents, teachers, industry players, and communities in reaching this decision, with a detailed circular providing additional information expected to be issued soon. This development follows the Education Ministry’s efforts to gather feedback and perspectives on the matter, addressing concerns about students’ comfort in hot weather. Notably, the ministry had already allowed students and teachers to wear sports attire on May 3 last year to alleviate the impact of high temperatures and reduce the risk of health complications.
