KUALA LUMPUR, January 28 – In a strategic move to bolster international collaboration, the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) commenced the year with a impactful trade mission to Jakarta, Indonesia. The focal point of the mission was to solidify a significant partnership with Asosia Travel Agent Indonesia (ASTINDO) through the formalization of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC). This collaboration is anticipated to rejuvenate the business events industries in both Malaysia and Indonesia, fostering knowledge exchange, and exploring avenues for broader business cooperation.

MyCEB’s CEO, Mr. Azman Haji Tambi Chik, expressed confidence in the newly established relationship, emphasizing its potential to restore the countries’ business events industry, facilitate mutual growth, and contribute positively to both nations. In addition to the MoC signing with ASTINDO, MyCEB engaged in a constructive dialogue with Drs. Vinsensius Jemadu, Deputy Minister for Tourism Product and Events at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Republic of Indonesia. The meeting garnered strong support for collaborative efforts in building a robust ASEAN Business Events (BE) community between Indonesia and Malaysia.

The envisioned ASEAN BE community aims to strengthen regional ties, promote economic growth, and enhance the overall profile of the business events industry across Southeast Asia. This visit also included discussions with the Indonesian Exhibition Companies Association (IECA-ASPERAPI), setting the groundwork for future collaborative ventures in the international business events landscape. The success of this strategic mission aligns with Malaysia’s commitment to international collaboration and growth in the business events industry, reinforcing its position as a vibrant global hub.
