GEORGE TOWN, February 10 – The National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) in Penang took a proactive step in addressing drug addiction issues by organizing a workshop titled “Bengkel Reka Bentuk Pemikiran Pengurangan Kawasan Berisiko Tinggi (KBT) Penagihan Dadah” for Mukim 12 in the Southwest District last Wednesday.
The Design Thinking Workshop, part of the Drug Addiction Reduction Action Group’s efforts, aimed to develop a comprehensive plan involving 46 participants, including representatives from various departments, agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community leaders. The workshop facilitated discussions, idea presentations, and collaborative planning to combat substance abuse effectively. This initiative goes beyond focusing solely on drug addiction; it also underscores the importance of social rehabilitation, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and ensuring safety.
AADK Penang’s efforts align with the broader goal of mobilizing an Integrated Initiative Program that involves all stakeholders to combat drug addiction issues in high-risk areas. The commitment extends to the systematic implementation of the Penang Fights Drug Threats (PLAD) plan over the next five years, with a target completion date of 2025. The KBT program, initiated in 2021 for Mukim 1 in the North Seberang Perai District and Mukim 21 in the Central Seberang Perai District, will continue its strategic focus on Mukim 20 in 2022, followed by Mukim 19 and Mukim 13 in 2023.
