KUALA LUMPUR, January 31 – CelcomDigi has declared the removal of the 5G Access Fee for users subscribed to the Digi Postpaid 40 and 60 plans, enabling them to access 5G services without any additional charges. Furthermore, customers on Xpax Postpaid 40 and 60 plans are entitled to a complimentary 5G Access Pass. Users under the Digi Postpaid 40 and 60 plans can activate the monthly 5G Access Pass for free through the MyDigi app. This decision aligns with the recent statement by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, signaling the end of 5G access fees imposed by telecom companies.

To activate the 5G Access Pass, users need to navigate to the Buy Add-Ons section within the MyDigi app. If eligible, they will find the 5G Access Pass for 30 days listed at RM0.00. It’s essential to acknowledge that older Digi Postpaid plans, such as Digi Infinite and Postpaid 58, are not covered by the fee waiver. However, reports suggest that users on the supplementary Digi Postpaid Family 20 2021 plan can also activate the 5G Access Pass without charge. CelcomDigi clarified that customers were not previously charged for 5G access; instead, the introduction of 5G boosters was aimed at ensuring uninterrupted 5G services.

The 5G boosters, providing 60GB data for RM10/month, are positioned as the most generous data quota offering available. To benefit from the waived 5G Access Fee, users must possess a 5G-enabled smartphone and be within Digital Nasional Berhad’s 5G coverage area, which currently spans 80.2% of populated areas. CelcomDigi’s move to eliminate the 5G Access Fee for lower-tier plans reflects the industry’s broader response to the growing demand for 5G services in Malaysia.
