KUALA LUMPUR, February 12 – Pos Malaysia Berhad (“Pos Malaysia”) is taking decisive steps to tackle the growing menace of parcel scams by collaborating with the Royal Malaysian Police’s (PDRM) Perak Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID). In a recent initiative held at its General Post Office in Ipoh, Pos Malaysia organized an anti-scam awareness session for its frontline employees and customers. The session, conducted by PDRM Perak’s CCID, aimed to enlighten participants about prevalent scam tactics that exploit the trusted Pos Malaysia brand, empowering them to identify and thwart potential scams.
This strategic partnership underscores Pos Malaysia’s proactive approach to address the surge in scam incidents, particularly those involving impersonation of Pos Malaysia representatives. The collaboration with PDRM is part of a comprehensive anti-scam campaign, with a particular focus on enhancing public awareness regarding scam tactics associated with logistics companies. Pos Malaysia and PDRM are set to launch an innovative campaign in March, dedicated to raising awareness through engaging activities across Perak’s residential areas, villages, and business districts. The campaign will employ various outreach methods, including distributing informational flyers, placing buntings and posters, and sharing educational videos on social media platforms.
The initiative also includes valuable insights provided by DSP Suresh Kumar A/L Muniandy from the Perak CCID, empowering Pos Malaysia employees with knowledge to identify suspicious communication channels commonly used by scammers. This initiative not only equips employees to educate customers but also encourages them to amplify awareness within their networks, thereby bolstering the collective defense against parcel scams. Charles Brewer, Group Chief Executive Officer of Pos Malaysia, emphasized the importance of public vigilance and reaffirmed Pos Malaysia’s commitment to safeguarding customers against scams, emphasizing the institution’s core values of integrity, transparency, and reliability.
