KUALA LUMPUR, February 12 – The ASEAN Foundation, in partnership with the Biji-biji Initiative and Microsoft, has launched the AI TEACH Malaysia Program, aimed at shaping Malaysia’s workforce for an AI-enabled economy. With Artificial Intelligence (AI) set to contribute significantly to ASEAN’s GDP by 2030, the program focuses on skilling initiatives to prepare individuals for the evolving digital landscape.
AI TEACH for ASEAN aims to provide AI literacy training to 6,200 Technology Vocational Education and Training (TVET) educators across ASEAN, with a special emphasis on Indonesia and Malaysia. Utilizing the Microsoft AI Trainer Toolkit, the program empowers educators to effectively teach AI concepts and offers Microsoft and LinkedIn Career Essentials in Generative AI certification to students, enhancing their employability.
In Malaysia, the program targets 1,000 TVET educators to train 100,000 students locally, aligning AI skills with industry demands. This initiative, launched in collaboration with government bodies like the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the National TVET Council (MTVET) Secretariat, signifies a crucial step towards fostering an inclusive economy empowered by AI literacy and skills development.
