KUALA LUMPUR, February 20 – According to a recent report by Opensignal, Malaysia is falling behind Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia in terms of telco reliability. The Opensignal Global Reliability Experience Report evaluates the consistency of mobile network connections worldwide, revealing Malaysia’s lower ranking compared to its ASEAN counterparts. The report highlights reliability as crucial for users to stay consistently connected and perform tasks like email, video streaming, and navigation seamlessly on their mobile networks.
The survey underscores the importance of reliability, with respondents valuing it over speed and ranking it second only to cost in carrier evaluation. Malaysia scored 790 points on Opensignal’s reliability scale, placing it ahead of countries like the Philippines and Saudi Arabia but trailing behind Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore. The report attributes lower reliability in emerging markets to the challenges of meeting evolving mobile data demands and inadequate network infrastructure planning. To improve, Malaysian telcos must focus on proactive investments and anticipate future demand, aligning their strategies with the evolving needs of consumers.
