BATU CAVES, March 5 – A group of 188 high school students from Meishu Gakuen Hitachi in Japan were thrilled to immerse themselves in Malaysian culture through traditional games, making traditional snacks, traditional dances, and various other Malaysian cultural activities held at Selayang Community College (KKSY) today. Paired with KKSY students known as “buddies” to facilitate their experiences, these high school students were able to engage more effectively in the activities and deepen their understanding of Malaysian culture through their Malaysian buddies.
The program included introductions to traditional games such as Batu Seremban, Congkak, Ceper, and Dam Haji, as well as traditional quizzes and games from Japan. Short courses on Malaysian culture were also provided to introduce food, clothing, and Malaysian cultures to the Japanese students. Courses on making Onde-Onde, Cara cakes, and Teh Tarik, as well as beading and laser wood carving with cultural symbols, provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of Malaysia’s diverse culture.
