KUALA LUMPUR, February 22 – CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) has released its Q4 2023 and full-year 2023 results, showcasing robust performance driven by solid market execution and efficient cost management. Notably, the network integration and modernization exercise, a key initiative of the merged telco, has reached 35% completion ahead of schedule. With 5,665 sites modernized and 2,400 phased out by December 2023, CelcomDigi reports significant improvements in signal strength (13-16%) and download speeds (20-26%), as validated by Ookla.
The exercise aims to streamline network sites, integrating over 12,000 sites from Celcom and Digi into a unified network of 18,000 sites. This effort also includes deploying the 900MHz spectrum across all sites to enhance coverage and indoor service quality. Despite a decline of 130,000 prepaid subscribers, CelcomDigi’s postpaid segment saw growth, reaching 6.98 million subscribers with an Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) of RM68. The company’s broadband business also flourished, adding 10,000 subscribers in Q4 2023 and achieving a service revenue growth of 4.4% quarter-on-quarter. – SoyaCincau
