GEORGE TOWN, February 26 – The Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) has responded to a viral TikTok video depicting tourists’ complaints about allegedly dirty tap water in a Penang hotel room, expressing concern over the incident. However, PBAPP stated that they are unable to initiate an investigation due to several key factors. The video, posted in May 2023, lacks essential details such as the hotel’s name, location, and the tourists’ identity. PBAPP has not received any reports from hotels regarding water quality issues during the specified period, making it challenging to identify the source of the problem.

Furthermore, since tourists are not registered as water consumers, PBAPP emphasizes the importance of filing a report to investigate any water quality concerns promptly. Water consumers are encouraged to report issues through PBAPP’s various communication channels, including the 24-hour Call Centre, myPBA app, Customer Service Centres, or via email. PBAPP assures that all reports will be thoroughly investigated to determine the cause and appropriate actions.
