KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 – Yew Lee Pacific Group Berhad (Yew Lee), a leading manufacturer of industrial brushes and trader of industrial hardware and machinery parts, has announced its financial results for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2023 (4Q FY2023), demonstrating resilience amidst market fluctuations. Despite challenges within the glove industry, Yew Lee’s manufacturing segment showcased strong performance, contributing RM3.6 million to the quarter’s revenue, reflecting resilience and consistency.
However, the trading segment experienced fluctuations attributed to market competition and price wars, prompting Yew Lee to streamline operations and enhance cost efficiency within this segment. While overall revenue for 4Q FY2023 slightly decreased to RM4.9 million from RM5.3 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, strategic adjustments are underway to align the trading segment with efficiency and profitability goals. Mr. Ang Lee Leong, Managing Director of Yew Lee, emphasized the impact of broader industry trends on performance, particularly in the rubber glove sector, while expressing optimism about the sector’s recovery driven by increased global hygiene awareness.
To mitigate industry-specific risks and diversify its portfolio, Yew Lee is expanding its industrial brush range, exploring customisable options, and broadening its scope in the industrial hardware and machinery parts segment. These strategic initiatives aim to strengthen market position and ensure a balanced and resilient business model for Yew Lee amidst evolving market dynamics.
