KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 – Minister of Education, Fadhlina Sidek, announced that the Ministry of Education (MOE) currently has no plans to overhaul the existing vernacular education ecosystem in Malaysia. Responding to suggestions made by Umno Youth Chief Muhamad Akmal Salleh regarding a potential reevaluation of the vernacular education system, Fadhlina stated that any decisions regarding the education ecosystem must adhere to the provisions outlined in the Education Act.

While acknowledging the viewpoints expressed, Fadhlina emphasized the MOE’s commitment to uphold the Education Act, which recognizes and supports the existence of vernacular schools in the country. Speaking to reporters during the 2024/2025 school session at Sekolah Kebangsaan Saujana Putra, Fadhlina reiterated the importance of abiding by the legal framework governing education policies.
