KUALA LUMPUR, November 8 – The Malaysian Football League (MFL) has confirmed that the 2023 Piala Malaysia final between defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Terengganu FC next month will take place at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil here. According to MFL’s Facebook post, the kick-off for the final showdown between the two national football giants is set for 9:00 PM on December 8. However, MFL has yet to announce ticket prices for the event.
JDT, champions of the 2017, 2019, and 2022 editions, secured their place in the final after a 12-2 aggregate victory over Perak FC in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Terengganu, champions of the 2001 edition, booked their spot in the final with a 4-2 aggregate win over Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC. The quality of the new turf at the National Stadium received criticism during the Merdeka Football Festival last month, which marked the first tournament held at the venue since its closure in March for turf upgrading using the new Zeon Zoysia grass.
In the same note, MFL announced the date and venue for the MFL Challenge Cup final between PDRM FC and Kuching City FC. The Blue Warriors squad will host the first final on November 29 at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ), while Kuching City will host the second final on December 3 at the State Stadium, with both matches kicking off at 8:15 PM.
