GEORGE TOWN, April 8 — Penang Development Corporation (PDC) has taken a significant step towards revitalizing Komtar by appointing a consultant for the task, announced its chief executive officer Datuk Aziz Bakar. The move aims to explore innovative strategies to breathe new life into Komtar, potentially by creating distinct zones within the complex to cater to various activities and interests.

Aziz Bakar mentioned that the consultant is expected to present a proposal within three months, emphasizing the importance of engaging stakeholders, particularly concerning privately owned retail spaces within Komtar. Completed in 1985, Komtar has served primarily as the state government administrative center and urban transformation center (UTC), with its commercial components experiencing a decline over the years.
