KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 — The Dewan Rakyat today approved the Supply (Reallocation of Appropriated Expenditure) Bill 2024 through a majority vote. Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying successfully passed the bill after the committee’s consideration of the motion proposed without amendment. The bill, tabled for a second reading by Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, received policy-level approval yesterday. Aimed at facilitating the reallocation of RM648,537,400 from the Consolidated Fund in 2024, the bill outlines specific services and purposes detailed in its schedule.
This reallocation arises from the reorganisation and renaming of several ministries, establishment of new ministries, and the transfer of functions following the formation of the new Cabinet on December 12, 2023. Notable allocations include those for the Prime Minister’s Department (RM64,912,200), the Public Service Department (RM21,673,000), and the Ministry of National Unity (RM1,433,200). Additional allocations are directed towards ministries such as Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (RM783,700), Energy Transition and Water Transformation (RM340,087,300), Communications (RM37,382,400), and Digital (RM182,265,600).
