KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 — Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has urged those advocating the boycott of KK Mart to step forward and take responsibility following the second attack on a branch of the convenience store this morning. Saifuddin emphasized the need for these parties to help pacify the escalating situation and cease inciting public unrest, particularly among aggrieved Muslims. The minister’s call comes in the wake of heightened tensions surrounding the Allah socks controversy, which saw another KK Mart branch in Kuantan, Pahang, targeted with a fuel-based bomb.
Despite legal action taken against the company’s founders over the controversial socks, the second attack has raised concerns of further unrest, especially with the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations. Saifuddin underscored the imperative for maintaining peace and warned against the possibility of additional provocations by “irresponsible parties,” vowing full police mobilization to ensure public safety. Despite police intervention and legal proceedings, the situation has escalated, fueled by political exploitation and communal tensions, necessitating urgent action to quell the unrest and foster harmony within the community.
