KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has sanctioned an additional allocation of RM14 million for the Wang Kelian Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security Complex (ICQS) project in Perlis. In a Facebook post today, Anwar explained that the decision was made in response to the urgent need to alleviate congestion issues at the country’s entry point. The request for extra funding was brought up by Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli during the Perlis State Development Briefing chaired by the Prime Minister during his visit to the state today.

“The Perlis Menteri Besar also raised the request for additional funding for the Wang Kelian ICQS project, scanning machines at the Perlis Land Port, and operating allocations for the Perlis state government,” stated the Prime Minister. The meeting, attended by state executive councillors, the Perlis Mufti, and heads of federal and state departments and agencies, covered various issues and development needs in Perlis, including infrastructure projects and tourism initiatives aimed at boosting the state’s appeal as a tourist destination.
