KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 — Job scams will take center stage among the ten key agendas discussed during the Asean Summit 2025, according to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. As Malaysia prepares to chair the summit next year, addressing the global crisis of job scams has emerged as a priority. Highlighting the shift in perception of job scams from mere fraud to human trafficking, Saifuddin emphasized the need for regional and global cooperation to combat this crime effectively.
He revealed that Malaysia has led the initiative to include job scams as a core agenda item, recognizing its impact not only locally but also on a broader international scale. Saifuddin’s remarks came in response to queries about government efforts to tackle job scams, with statistics revealing 362 reports involving 470 victims from September 2021 to date. To raise awareness and prevent further victimization, collaborative efforts with Malaysia Airports Berhad will see the establishment of counters and digital displays at exit points, empowering individuals to make informed decisions before leaving the country.
