KUALA LUMPUR, April 6 – Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced today that all tickets for the electric train service (ETS) heading north and the Ekspres Lambaian Aidilfitri (ELA) special train to the East Coast, in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, have been completely sold out. The high demand resulted in 119,880 ETS tickets and 952 ELA tickets being sold by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) for the travel period from April 4-15. In response to the overwhelming demand, KTMB has provided six additional trains for the same period offering additional services for routes such as KL Sentral-Padang Besar-KL Sentral, KL Sentral-Butterworth-KL Sentral, and KL Sentral-Ipoh-KL Sentral.

Loke highlighted that 86% of the additional ETS train services tickets have already been sold since March 22, prompting the increase in train services to accommodate the surge in travelers. He also announced improvements to the KL Sentral-Tanjung Malim-KL Sentral commuter train service frequency, with trains scheduled to operate every 15 minutes during peak hours starting April 20, compared to the current 60-minute frequency. These enhancements are part of efforts to increase passenger capacity and improve public transportation accessibility.
