IPOH, April 21 – Starting May 1, domestic users in Perak will experience a slight increase in their water tariff, with rates set at 75 sen per cubic metre, up from the previous 70 sen. The Perak Menteri Besar Office confirmed this adjustment, explaining that the increase of five sen per cubic metre applies to usage up to 20 cubic metres per month. Additionally, the rate for consumption ranging from 21 to 35 cubic metres will be RM1.08, compared to the previous RM1.03.

To mitigate the impact of the tariff hike, the Perak Water Board (LAP) will offer a rebate of 40 sen per cubic metre for the first 10 cubic metres of water used each month, equivalent to RM4 monthly. This rebate aims to alleviate the financial burden on domestic users. Despite the increase, the new tariff remains lower than the average rate set by the National Water Services Commission (SPAN), underscoring Perak’s commitment to maintaining affordable water rates for its residents.
