KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 – Google Wallet made headlines last week with increasing support from local banks, enabling cashless payments without physical cards. The Google Wallet app has recently been updated, and the minimum operating system requirements have also been changed. Now, you’ll need a device with at least Android 9 or Wear OS 2.0 to continue using Google Wallet.
When launched in 2022, the required operating system was only Android 5.2. This minimum operating system requirement will take effect from June 10, 2024. For owners of devices that are nearly 7 years old (Android 8 Oreo was launched in 2017), it’s now time to consider purchasing a new one as Google Wallet will no longer be usable.
