SUBANG JAYA, June 13 — Malaysia’s premier carmaker, Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn Bhd (Proton), today announced the launch of “e.MAS,” its new sub-brand dedicated to electric vehicles (EV). The name, a blend of “electric” and “Malaysia,” signifies the nation’s leadership in electric mobility, explained Proton chief designer Azlan Othman during the event at the Proton Centre of Excellence Complex.
The e.MAS logo, a modern take on Proton’s current emblem, features a distinctive turquoise “e” at the rear of the vehicles, maintaining the heritage and pride of the original tiger image. Proton aims to establish over 20 EV dealerships across Malaysia by year-end, enhancing the EV ownership experience through comprehensive customer services and expanded charging infrastructure in collaboration with several charge point operators.
