Apple’s new iPhone 16 lineup is seeing mixed demand, with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max underperforming expectations, according to analyst Ming Chi-Kuo. Kuo’s analysis, based on pre-order data and a supply chain survey, shows a 16% drop in demand for the iPhone 16 Pro Max and a 27% decline for the iPhone 16 Pro compared to last year’s models. In contrast, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have seen a surge in sales, with the Plus model up 48% from last year.

Despite the overall decline in iPhone 16 lineup sales, which are down 12.7% from the iPhone 15’s launch, the iPhone 16 Plus is driving growth, with more consumers opting for the larger, standard model. Kuo suggests that Apple may need to adopt more aggressive strategies to boost demand in future releases, especially if current promotions and features don’t improve sales.
