KUALA LUMPUR, October 28 – Vietjet has made a historic leap toward sustainable aviation by launching Vietnam’s first flights using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The flights, departing from Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport to Melbourne and Seoul, mark a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and advance green air travel. This initiative aligns with Vietnam’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, as part of its COP26 pledge.
Vietjet, in partnership with Petrolimex Aviation, which supplied the SAF, is leading the charge in the region by reducing carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to traditional fuels. Vietjet’s CEO, Dinh Viet Phuong, highlighted the airline’s dedication to offering environmentally conscious flights, reinforcing its role as a pioneer in sustainable aviation. This effort supports global green aviation initiatives while promoting eco-friendly practices throughout Vietjet’s operations and expanding its international flight network.
