PONTIAN, October 30 – SJK(T) Jalan Parit Ibrahim has made history as Malaysia’s first Tamil school to be named a Microsoft Showcase School for two consecutive years, a recognition of their commitment to educational innovation. By integrating Microsoft’s Education Transformation Framework, the school has expanded its digital learning resources, fostering digital literacy and preparing students for a technology-driven world. Spearheaded by Headmistress Madam Vigneshwary Vediappan, the transformation emphasizes empowering students with future-ready skills to thrive beyond academics.

The initiative, led by IT teacher Karthik Perumar, saw teachers embracing digital tools like Microsoft Teams and Minecraft Education to create immersive learning experiences. With support from Dr. Azma Abdul Hamid, CEO of Content Capital, the school’s educators achieved Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert qualifications, transforming traditional classrooms into ‘smart classrooms’ equipped with advanced IT facilities. These changes have promoted equitable access to learning and empowered students to take charge of their education through interactive and accessible digital tools.

The school continues to build on this digital success, recently establishing a Microsoft Self-Access Learning Centre, which offers students hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology. “Our goal is to nurture digital experts, enabling our students to excel both in Malaysia and beyond,” said Karthik. Plans are underway to expand the centre’s programs, aiming to benefit students from other localities and potentially, from around the world.
