KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 – Phase Five of the Media Innovation Fund (Dana Inovasi Media) has officially closed after continuing efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s local media industry.

Through training, technology adoption, content development, infrastructure and research initiatives. Introduced in January 2026 with a total allocation of RM30 million.

The fund was designed to help media organisations adapt to changing advertising trends and evolving industry demands.

Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching previously urged registered local media organisations to seize the opportunity before allocations were exhausted.

Under the programme, each organisation could apply for up to RM300,000. Earlier phases saw encouraging participation.

With Phase 1 approving 34 organisations and RM12.38 million in funding, while Phases 2 and 3 allocated RM5.16 million and RM2.6 million respectively.

Phase 4 applications remain under evaluation, as the government continues supporting media organisations to improve competitiveness and embrace new approaches in a rapidly changing media landscape.

The fund reflects the government’s continued commitment to modernising and future-proofing Malaysia’s media industry.
