GEORGE TOWN, May 20 — The Consumer Association of Penang (CAP) has urged Malaysians to prepare for a prolonged global energy crisis.
Amid rising oil prices and growing concerns over fuel supply disruptions. CAP warned that fuel subsidies are becoming increasingly costly.
With government spending reportedly rising beyond RM6 billion monthly, while higher oil prices could significantly impact consumers and the economy.
CAP president Mohideen Abdul Kader called on the public to reduce unnecessary spending, conserve energy and prepare financially for possible economic hardship.
The association also urged Malaysia to accelerate renewable energy adoption and reduce dependence on fossil fuels to strengthen long-term energy resilience.
