MELAKA, August 16 — PKR must prove its 27-year Reformasi struggle can change how Malaysia is governed, rather than simply keep the party in power, vice-president Dr Zaliha Mustafa said Sunday.

Speaking at PKR’s national congress, Zaliha called for stronger institutions, better governance and continued action against corruption.

While acknowledging that lasting reforms may need to be introduced gradually. She also urged PKR to begin developing a new generation of clean and capable leaders.

Instead of waiting for President Anwar Ibrahim to step down. Zaliha said the party must communicate government achievements more clearly and strengthen its social media presence.

Separately, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said poverty and drug abuse, rather than other ethnic groups, were among the biggest challenges facing Malays.
