GEORGE TOWN, August 23 — Penang is using Zhuhai as a launchpad to expand its tourism presence across China’s Greater Bay Area, state tourism executive councillor Wong Hon Wai said.

A Penang delegation recently held the “Fall in Love with Penang” roadshow in Zhuhai, including business matching with tourism representatives from Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan and Macao.

Wong said Penang currently has 41 direct flights weekly from Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, providing a foundation for reaching travellers across the wider region.

He said Zhuhai’s links with surrounding cities could help Penang move from individual-city promotions towards a broader regional tourism strategy.
