TAIPEI, September 28 — Acer chairman Jason Chen expects PC prices to rise by an average of 5% to 20% in the fourth quarter as component costs remain elevated.
Chen said DDR4 and DDR5 memory supplies were no longer particularly tight, while CPU shortages were largely limited to some lower-end models.
However, memory and SSD prices remain at high levels, with computers requiring larger capacities potentially seeing bigger price increases.
Chen expects average PC selling prices to peak around mid-2027 as additional semiconductor production comes online. Prices could begin easing during the second half of 2027, he said.
