KUALA LUMPUR, October 21 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) will challenge its deregistration by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) through legal action and an appeal to the Home Minister.

PN secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the coalition would seek a court order to suspend the decision during a High Court hearing on Oct 22.

He questioned the timing of the deregistration, which came ahead of the Melaka state election scheduled for Nov 14. RoS cancelled PN’s registration after rejecting its explanation to an earlier notice.

Takiyuddin said the coalition would pursue available legal remedies to challenge the decision.
