KUALA LUMPUR, October 23 — The mobile phones of 54 Malaysians missing after a devastating glacial flood in Nepal were last detected at the disaster site, Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan told Parliament.

The Malaysians are feared dead following the disaster, which reportedly killed up to 1,400 people and left more than 5,500 missing.

Mohamad said Nepal had agreed to shorten its death certificate process to 45 days following a request by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

The government is reviewing the proposed executive order, which would help affected families resolve legal and administrative matters without facing years of uncertainty.
