KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said there was a revealed there is a movement to overthrow the government by opposition and masterminded by a figure who was also the leader of UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN).
“The plan was carried out in a way to get a sworn statement of opposition MPs and MPs withdraw their support of the movement to overthrow the government through the ‘back door’. I got to know out there a conscious effort to overthrow the existing government and masterminded by the opposition and an UMNO leaders (who is also the leader) BN,” said Ahmad Zahid, who is also interior minister.
“The movement to topple the government through the ‘back door’ efforts are being made to get a statutory declaration (sworn statement) among all other opposition MPs drew BN MPs to disband the present government through the back door,” he said when opening the Cheras Umno division delegates meeting.
“The matter seriously and has got the information from “sources that are very trustworthy. This effort is progressing, ostensibly all 87 members of the Houses of Parliament as well as a member of independent, by making 88 people, was trying to MPs to support them,” said Ahmad Zahid, who is also Umno vice-president.
Without revealing the name of the figures involved, Ahmad Zahid said the lawyers said the group was preparing a “memorandum seven pages yellow paper with a statutory declaration” to declare believing they have a majority vote for the government rolled. He said their plan would not be allowed to happen.
“The matter as serious as this is a matter that will lead to national political gelojak because they are not willing to wait that long (until done) general election (GE), they want to enter through the back door. He also expressed the cradle to attempt to overthrow the government for this “led by a leader of UMNO and BN” and added that he would personally be exposed without being exposed,” he said.
Therefore, Ahmad Zahid want all members of UMNO and BN including at the grassroots seriously plan, and must remain united to prevent such things happening. He said that the strength is based on the loyalty which is the pillar of strength of leadership.
“Not only do we crave power and grass-roots support and parts (UMNO) party president, but MPs, I am sure, they will not get caught and trapped by the back door games which will be made by certain figures. In the same time, I also would like to called on all members of UMNO Selangor and state BN component parties worked together to design a strategy to recapture the state from the opposition to focus on the Lembah Jaya, Ampang and Bukit International,” he said.
“Arise UMNO Selangor. Forget the point of discord. Leaders must go down, do not puncture the ship hit a storm, hold the opposite view, ropes, anchor and oars together. We do not want when the ship hit, punch board members,” said Ahmad Zahid said, adding that member states should restore the glory of UMNO Selangor as when under the BN.
There were 22 Selangor Umno Division declared allegiance to the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his deputy, Ahmad Zahid. All members of UMNO must be united so that the party continues to have the support of the people. UMNO Selangor determined to strive charming Selangor. We are not difficult to win, just have to keep their respective areas to recover Selangor,” said Chairman of the Selangor Umno Liaison Datuk Seri Noh Omar in his speech.
