GEORGE TOWN, Aug 21 – YB Teh Lai Heng had been announced will be banned the right turn intersection at Dato Keramat Road/Perlis Road/Kampung Jawa Baru Road, Penang. Also present were MBPP Traffic & Public Transportation Engineer Zainuddin Mohamad Shariff and Chairman of Community Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Jawa Northeast Region.
“Dato Keramat Road is a main road which had connected to the Pusat Bandar and Bandar Ayer Itam. This road was always flowing with a high number of vehicles at all the times, especially during the peak morning and evening. Kampung Jawa Baru Road and Perlis Road was continued to Dato Keramat Road which forming a four junction where vehicles can move in all directions at this intersection,” said YB Teh Lai Heng.
“This had also creates a lot of traffic at the intersection of conflict and also danger to road users, especially the moving vehicle along the road from Perlis Road to Kampung Jawa Baru Road and vice versa. While the vehicles who want to make the deflection to the right will be obstructed the vehicle to moving along at Jalan Dato Keramat,” he said.
“This raises the problem of congestion at this intersection and also caused many accidents in this place. To overcome this problem, the Council approved the proposal of the right turn intersection at Dato Keramat Road/Perlis Road/Kampung Jawa Baru Road on last year November end of the month,” he added.
“The traffic flow will be continue scaling from Perlis Road to Kampung Jawa Baru Road and vice versa with banned the road. We were just allowed the right turn intersection from Dato Keramat Road to Kampung Jawa Baru Road only. The implementation of this prohibition will be started on August 30, 2015 at 12:01 am sharp. We hopes all the public are been advised to follow the traffic signs installed at this intersection,” said YB Teh Lai Heng.
