BUTTERWORTH, Sept 6 – Bombs have been found among scrap metal delivered to a steel mill in Prai near Butterworth, Penang. Penang CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Zakaria Ahmad confirmed that bombs had been found in the mill. However, he was declined to elaborate on the matter. A deliveryman said he was told by a worker at the mill that about 300 of the bombs were live ones.

“The policemen and forensic personnel were at the mill on Friday. Besides that, the company would often get its supply of scrap metal delivered by ship from foreign countries. Among the supplies received were many old and disused bombs. I’m exposing this information because I fear for the safety of the people around there. I worry of a catastrophe if the bombs were to explode as there is a petroleum processing plant nearby,” he said.
