KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 – Low visibility of less than three kilometres over the waters off Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Kuching and Tawau is expected to persist till Thursday. The seven state territorial waters are among 17 areas shrouded in haze in the country areas and with Air Pollutant Index (API) readings of above 101 as at 8 am on Monday.
According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the condition is dangerous to ships which are not equipped with navigational devices. A similar condition is also forecast in the Straits of Melaka and waters off Tioman, Bunguran, Kuching and Sulawesi.
