KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 – Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein is confident the appointment of a new Public Accounts Committee chairman will help to speed up resolution of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue. He believes that the new PAC chairman and other committee members would discharge their responsibilities effectively.
Hishammuddin told reporters at the Parliament lobby here Monday that the public who want the 1MDB issue to be resolved should await the outcome of the PAC investigation. The Dewan Rakyat had been approved the appointment of Rompin MP Datuk Hasan Arifin as the new PAC chairman, replacing Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed, who was appointed Deputy Home Minister.
In the same time, Nur Jazlan also said that he was confident to Hasan and would discharge his responsibilities well. He added that he hoped Hasan would obtain the full cooperation of all the parties on the PAC so that the interrupted matters could be resumed.
