BUTTERWORTH, Nov 9 – The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) is organising a Safety Awareness Campaign at Petrol Station to reduce mishaps. Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said the campaign was being organised as there were still many people who were unaware that fire could easily break out at petrol stations.
“The negligent attitude of the some consumers at petrol stations would not only endanger themselves but also residents in the surrounding area. In this regard, the KPDNKK office in every state has taken the initiative to hold a continuous safety awareness campaign with the cooperation of petrol station operators,” he said in his speech when launching the campaign at the Sungai Lokan Petronas Petrol Station here on Sunday.
He said, other than the cooperation of consumers in ensuring safety at petrol stations, the station operators must also ensure that their facilities and infrastructure were upgraded and maintained well. Among activities conducted during the campaign were safety exhibitions by Penang KPDNKK and the Fire and Rescue Department, which were attended by secondary schools students and members of the public.
